Extra Curricular Opportunities in Drama:

  • KS3 Drama Club runs every Wednesday 3.05pm until 4pm in G62
  • KS3 Drama Club is currently rehearsing and preparing for a performance of Billy Liar in Herefordshire Performing Arts Festival.
  • Extension and Extended Learning – Every Tuesday - Friday 3.05pm until 4pm in S08 for GCSE students
  • Sixth form students wishing to apply for Drama school are to speak with Mrs Davies for Audition guidance and application assistence.

Outreach from the Drama Department:

  • Drama department works with Playhouse Theatre in Leominster to promote Film and Theatre to the young people of Leominster.
  • During Earl Mortimer transition days the Drama Department put on Drama workshops for Year 5 and 6 children from the local feeder primary schools.

Trips and Drama events:

  • GCSE drama students enter the Shakespeare School’s Festival each year and perform at The Courtyard Centre for the Arts. In 2010, Year 10 performed ‘The Tempest.’
  • GCSE and Sixth Form students interested in a career in the Arts attended the annual Arts Career Convention at the Courtyard Centre for the Arts in January 2011.
  • GCSE Year 10 students are attending a Year 10 Drama day to build and develop improvisation skills in March 2011.
  • GCSE students are attending in April 2011 a Greek Masterclass at Hereford Cathedral School.
  • Year 10 GCSE students for their Theatre review recently travelled to the Victoria Palace theatre, London to watch a matinee performance of Billy Elliot.

Gifted and Talented pupils:
Pupils who shine and stand out who look to be pushed to go beyond the normal classroom study of Drama are encouraged to:

  • Apply and Audition for National Youth Theatre – Auditions Jan/Feb
  • Join extracurricular clubs, if they are KS4 they are encouraged to guide younger pupils
  • Apply to do LAMDA exams outside of school
  • Rehearse and enter (under the guidance of their teacher) the Herefordshire Performing Arts Festival
  • Some students also apply to enter Herefordshire Got Talent
