Welcome to the Religious Education and Philosophy Department
Religious Education and Philosophy @ EMC
Religion, Ethics and Philosophy is a course in which students are given the opportunity to engage with the beliefs, practices and traditions of a diverse range of religious and non-religious groups. Students study REP thematically, allowing an in-depth consideration of ethical issues such as 'is it ever right to go to war?' and 'how should we choose to use money?'. Philosophical skills are introduced by investigating the big questions in life, such as 'how was the universe created?' and 'if there is a good God, why is there suffering in the world?' Students are encouraged to explore their own thoughts, and those of their classmates, and thoughtful, conscientious debate is encouraged.
