Key Stage 4 Religious Education , Philosophy and Ethics

 

During GCSE REP you will study a range of ethical and philosophical issues, considering the views of religious and non-religious people.

Topics studied:

  1. Human relationships – marriage, divorce, roles of men and women, sexuality
  2. Medical ethics – abortion, euthanasia, suicide, animal research
  3. Poverty and wealth - causes of poverty, moral and immoral occupations, charity
  4. Belief about deity – the nature of god, the nature of belief
  5. Religious and spiritual experience – miracles, prayer, worship
  6. The end of life – heaven and hell, the afterlife
  7. Peace and justice – crime and punishment, war, social justice
  8. Equality – racism, sexism, religious freedom
  9. Media – portrayal of God, Jesus and Christians in film, tv, books and the news
  10. Good and Evil – the existence of suffering
  11. Religion, reason and revelation – miracles, conversion, reasons for belief
  12. Religion and science – creation of the world, stewardship
