Key Stage 4 Religious Education , Philosophy and Ethics
During GCSE REP you will study a range of ethical and philosophical issues, considering the views of religious and non-religious people.
Topics studied:
- Human relationships – marriage, divorce, roles of men and women, sexuality
- Medical ethics – abortion, euthanasia, suicide, animal research
- Poverty and wealth - causes of poverty, moral and immoral occupations, charity
- Belief about deity – the nature of god, the nature of belief
- Religious and spiritual experience – miracles, prayer, worship
- The end of life – heaven and hell, the afterlife
- Peace and justice – crime and punishment, war, social justice
- Equality – racism, sexism, religious freedom
- Media – portrayal of God, Jesus and Christians in film, tv, books and the news
- Good and Evil – the existence of suffering
- Religion, reason and revelation – miracles, conversion, reasons for belief
- Religion and science – creation of the world, stewardship
